Throughout the centuries persevering prayer has been considered an essential part of the advancement of God’s kingdom on earth. However, those of us who live in the western culture tend to want quick answers to our problems. Many times this quick-fix attitude finds its way into our prayer life. Often we will pray for something occasionally, but not perseveringly. The truth is that persevering prayer is not an option; it is a necessity, just as united prayer is a necessity. Jesus was personally acquainted with the necessity for persevering prayer, We see this in (Luke 18). The purpose of this parable was to teach us the necessity of
persevering in prayer.
Many of us still “let go of the arm of God to soon.” We must learn how to prevail long with the lord in prayer.
Lord Cause us pray to You constantly until you receive us. As we persevere in prayer, let us remember to give you thanks for the blessings you give us.
Personal Reflection and Discussion
Prayer Activities
That’s really interesting because all my life I have been taught to ask than beleve that it will be answered. They always told me it was a sign of weak faith to keep praying about something. This says perservering prayer is a necessity as well as unifying prayer. Wow! Praise God that He accepts prayers of all kinds and Praise Him for teaching us when we are willing to learn.
I do not believe that it is a sign of weakness to pray for the same thing more than once, but I do think praying for things like more hair may be the exception, lol. We need to tell these people to by a Hat. I believe that God loves to hear our prayers and there are a few things I pray for over and over, like, please watch over my friends and family. Or Lord, please touch the hearts of the people that do not know you. You get the Idea. Pray more eagerly and be strong in faith, God hears all your prayers.
I would think we should be persisent on the things that weigh heavy on our heart. I think those are spirit lead to show us dependence on him. Those are times were we really feel we need him the most. We don’t nomally forget thoses lessons of faith so easily, and it could easily be a great opportunity to share God’s deliverance.
It reminds me of Jacob wresting with the angel/Jesus. It seems God wants us to really want what we pray for, at the same time awaking us and calling us to be full hearted passionate people. It would probably do us some good to see more of that in our days of Laodicia. Before Elisha died he asked king Joash to shoot arrows out his window. Joash did just 3 and stopped. Elisha was really upset because he wanted him to shoot for a higher number and get a greater victory. I think this has alot to say to us.
I agree, I have been in Jacob’s place and I do believe that God wants us to be diligent in our request. When I left Texas 6 years ago; I sat down and told God I was not moving until I got an answer to why I had left and what I was going to do in VA beach. It took three days but I got my answer. but the question is; if I had just given up and left after 2 days, would I be here today?
Completely agree, prayers are very essential. Praying for each other is as important as praying for oneself. I have had people comme to me and tell me thanks for the prayers, i have gone to people and thank them for praying for me. Prayers is a way we have direct comunication with heaven. Jesus himself prayed for us, we need to continue praying for others.
I to try and thank the people that pray for me, without them I would be just a man in this world. But because of them, I have been lifted up to God and I have been made whole.
